The ancient India’s architectural excellence is showcased in the Ajantha and Ellora caves, located near the city Aurangabad in Maharashtra, India. The world famous Ajanta and Ellora are rock cut cave shrines by hand. There are 29 caves and 34 caves at Ajanta and Ellora respectively. The carving and the architecture appears in the cave is a real example of architectural excellence of ancient India. It is interesting to note that they were built using simple tools which tells the architectural talent of then Indian architects. In the images carved, a large numbers are of the divine sculptures and an image of Buddha’s preaching. The Ajanta caves lie deep in the semi-arid Sahayadri hills, above the waghora river. The Ellora caves located about 30 K M north –west of Aurangabad city and carved into the sides of a hill.
